This is another branding I did for my Graphic Design II class. We had to come up with an imaginary creature and name is as well as create an image, logo, tagline and mission/vision statements. So, meet the Arenyen nan Lanme a "the Ocean Devil" The name means "spider of the sea" in Haitian Creole and was named by the locals who first encountered the creature. The Ocean Devil is the name given to it by Western explorers. The idea behind the is creature is that he is the Kraken's evil best friend but instead of being a giant octopus he's a giant spider. I have him some webbing between his legs to help with hydrodynamic-ness. While Kraken typically hunt in the open ocean, the Ocean Devil hunts close to land, building webs to trap ships among the rocks. The mission and vision statements are written from the perspective of a Western explorer who was sent to study the creature and report back to the Crown. Unfortunately, however, before his mission could be completed his ship also fell victim to the Sea Devil and this account was lost forever. The original audience was intended to be the top minds of whatever court this sailor serves but is now used to educate museum guests on long forgotten, maybe even mythical, creatures.
